Jack Bowsher and Associates Motorsports will debut the GFS Marketplace Ford at Toledo, May 21 & 22. The Hantz Group 200 will be the first race of 2005 for GFS Marketplace as the primary sponsor. The first four races of the season have been sponsored by Safe Auto Insurance with associate sponsorship from GFS, Bremtown Fine Cabinetry, Collateral Evaluation Associates, Inc., LL & S Development Co., Jack's Auto Body, Tex Racing, Ingersoll Rand Tools, United Trailers and Turtle Wax. GFS Marketplace's stint as primary sponsor will continue for five additional races throughout the year.
The #21 team is trying out the same approach that many NASCAR teams are using this year-the "tag-team" sponsorship. In such a dollar-intensive sport, it is necessary to try to ease the cost for the sponsors. By switching primary and associate sponsors for various races, the dollar outlay can be lessened for each sponsor. "We are glad to be back with GFS for the Toledo race. Our sponsorship situation is unique in ARCA. We are really fortunate to have two great corporate sponsors who have paired up with Jack Bowsher and Associates Motorsports," said driver Todd Bowsher.
At the half mile high-banked Toledo Speedway, Todd will drive the same car that he drove to 12th and 14th in 2004. It is also the same car that barely survived the Salem Speedway race to finish 5th just three weeks ago. All sides and corners of this #21 Ford have been repaired before its Toledo outing. Todd's best finish at Toledo is 10th in 2003. "The #21 team and I are excited to return to Toledo. Our finishes last year did not show how well we were running. We want to pick up where we left off last fall when we were running 3rd before a fuel mileage miscalculation cost us big. We are looking forward to showing what our team can do on the short track," commented Todd.
Qualifying will take place at 11:45 on Sunday, May 22. Two hundred laps of exciting short track racing are scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. EST start. The Hantz Group 200 will be televised live on Speed Channel starting at 2:00.
