Todd Bowsher, driver of the Safe Auto Insurance Co. Ford, finished 29th Saturday at Pocono Raceway after starting 17th in the Pennsylvania 200.
The #21 Jack Bowsher & Associates Motorsports Ford started the day with high hopes of rebounding after a disappointing 34th at Berlin Speedway last weekend. When the first caution flag flew on lap 14, the pit crew brought the car in to make adjustments and add fuel to the car. Before the green flag, Bowsher radioed his crew that the car was missing. When he brought it in to pit road he took it directly behind the wall so the crew could try to diagnose the problem. In the remaining fifty laps the team tried to correct the situation with Bowsher going back on the track twice. The problem remained unsolved, with the team focusing on electrical problems which caused the motor to miss and skip.
Bowsher said, "We felt we had a top ten car all weekend so we are very disappointed about our results with the Safe Auto Insurance Ford. The last two weekends we have taken a pretty big hit in points and moral. All we can do is return to the shop, regroup and get ready for Gateway next weekend. We will try to get back on track there."
Frank Kimmel, Chad McCumbee, Erin Crocker, David Ragan and Ken Weaver finished in the top five spots. After this 29th place finish, Bowsher dropped to 10th in the year long ARCA RE/MAX series points battle.
The next race for the Jack Bowsher & Associates Motorsports team is the Shop 'n Save 150 at Gateway International Raceway in Madison, Illinois. The race will be covered live on SPEED Channel at 9 pm EST Friday, July 29.
