Todd Bowsher, driver of the GFS Marketplace Ford Taurus, finished 13th in Friday's WLWT Channel 5-150 at Kentucky Speedway. Bowsher started in the 28th position and picked up several spots before a couple of early cautions gave the Jack Bowsher and Associates Motorsports team the opportunity to come onto pit road and make adjustments to the handling of the car. By lap 62 of the 100 lap event, the #21 had moved to the 17th position. On lap 66 Bowsher avoided the spinning cars of Dawayne Bryan and Bill Eversole by taking the #21 Ford through the grass onto the pit access road. During the lengthy caution for this multi-car accident, Bowsher pitted for four tires and fuel. When the green flag waved with fifteen laps remaining, Bowsher was in 12th. Chad McCumbee was able to get past Bowsher in the final laps to move the #21 to the 13th finishing spot.
After the race, Bowsher said, "All in all this was not a bad night for us. We were off a little from the leaders all night, but we were right with the rest of the field. We used some pit strategy in the first half of the race. If the race would have gone green like at Kansas last week we would have been O.K." With this finish, Bowsher moved to 7th in the series points battle. Chad Blount picked up his second ARCA RE/MAX win in a row. Erin Crocker, Joey Miller, Frank Kimmel and Justin Allgaier rounded out the top five finishers.
The next race for the GFS Marketplace Ford is the Request/Sara Lee 200 by GFS Marketplace on Saturday, July 16th at the 0.4 mile Berlin Speedway in Marne, Michigan. "The #21 team is excited to get back to the short track at Berlin Speedway where we finished 10th last year in a rain-shortened event after starting 5th. We have four career top-10 finishes at Berlin. With our sponsor and the race sponsor, GFS Marketplace, headquartered in nearby Grand Rapids, Michigan, we are expecting a lot of fans at the track. We are taking the same car that we ran at Lanier Speedway, where we finished 10th, but were in contention for the win," said Bowsher. The green flag is scheduled to wave at 8:00 pm EST. at Berlin.
