Bowsher 20th at Daytona
(Daytona Beach, Florida - February 13, 2006) - Springfield Ohio's Todd Bowsher drove his Safe Auto Insurance Ford to the 20th finishing position Sunday in the Daytona ARCA 200. The rain delayed ARCA Re/Max Series event was originally scheduled to take the green on Saturday at 4:10pm but was rescheduled for 9:30am Sunday .
Todd and the Jack Bowsher & Associates Motorsports team headed to Daytona knowing it was going to be a strong field of cars, with all of the "Driver Development" teams from the NASCAR side. That proved to be so as the entry boasted 72 cars with 68 of those taking qualifying times. Bowsher was forced to use a provisional starting spot placing him 41st on the grid.
Once the green flag flew on the Daytona ARCA 200, Todd and the team had a strategy; let things get sorted out and then be cautiously aggressive the second half of the race. The plan worked as Todd wheeled the Safe Auto Insurance Ford to a 20th place finish. "All in all we had a decent day." Said Bowsher. "We didn't really have any close calls, we just kind of hung out the first half of the race and then really raced the last half. If you take all of the "Cup" deals out of the equation we were 6th among the ARCA regulars, that's not too bad." He added, "We're coming out of Daytona in a lot better shape than this deal last year." Speaking of the "Big One" at the 05 Daytona race which he was caught up in.
"We've got Safe Auto Insurance and Bremtown Fine Custom Cabinetry back from last year along with our team of associate sponsors that have supported us in the past and Casite came on board for the Daytona event so we're coming out of here with a decent finish to set the scenario for the rest of the season." Bowsher stated, "I don't even figure Daytona into the rest of the season, basically our season starts after Daytona, I've always said that. I'm just looking forward to the getting to Nashville and the rest of the 06 season."
The next event up for Jack Bowsher & Associates Motorsports is the PFG Lester 150 at the Nashville Superspeedway on April 15.
