After Three Disappointments In A Row, #26 Hopes For A Fresh Start This Weekend
Corydon, Indiana - After three disappointments in a row, ApplianceZone.com Racing is looking for improvements from Brad Smith Motorsports this weekend during the Rattlesnake 150 at Texas Motor Speedway. Smith, driver of ApplianceZone's #26 Ford, can't help but feel the pressure as he heads to the race hoping to regroup and find his groove following a bad day at Salem last weekend as his sponsor and special VIP guests looked on.
The car Smith's team had planned to run in the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200 wasn't race ready -forcing Smith to run a back up during an event ApplianceZone.com was hosting as presenting sponsor. After numerous pit stops, Smith dropped out at the halfway mark. The poor performance at Salem followed similar upsets at Daytona (transmission failure) and Palm Beach (unprepared to race in the rain).
"It was a bad day at the pool. That's the bottomline," Smith said, "There couldn't have been a worse time to disappoint my sponsor but that's what happened. Several key issues related to our in-house management of the team and equipment have caused devastating set backs as we kick off the new season with ARCA. We know we've got some housecleaning and organizational matters to fix and we're doing our best to resolve them now."
Despite being under the microscope, Smith says he's still enthusiastic about this weekend's race. "I haven't been to Texas Motor Speedway in over twelve years and am looking forward to being there again," he said. "It's a smooth and very fast track -- one of the fastest in NASCAR - and I'm looking forward to seeing what we can do there. We're taking a totally rebuilt car and this will be its maiden voyage."
