Allgaier Aims for Superspeedway Win; Justin Allgaier wins a rain shortened Loud Energy Drink 150 in New Jersey
Talladega, Alabama (September 30, 2008)-Justin Allgaier will take to the track at the Talladega Superspeedway looking to round out his season with a Superspeedway win in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. Last week, Allgaier won the road course race in the ARCA Series at the New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, NJ when rain halted the race early.
In 19 of the 21 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series races scheduled, Allgaier has posted four wins, 12 top-five and 14 top-ten finishes. Allgaier has won on every track that the ARCA RE/MAX Series competes on; including on a dirt track, short-track, speedway and a road course.
This weekend Allgaier and the No. 16 Hoosier Mid-West AG Tech team will try to lock up a superspeedway win. Allgaier came close to that win in the season opener at the Daytona International Speedway by finishing second.
"We had a great race in Daytona this year," Allgaier said. "I like tracks where the aerodynamics and drafting come into play and we did pretty well there. Hopefully, we'll have an even better run at Talladega."
Allgaier has two previous starts in the ARCA RE/MAX Series at the 2.66-mile tri-oval superspeedway with a best finish of 13th in 2007.
"We had a decent finish last year but I thought we had a top-five car for sure," Allgaier said. "That's the thing about restrictor plate racing is that you really depend on the draft. When you try to break out of the pack to make a run but without any help to push, you can't really go anywhere. Hopefully, we'll have some drafting partners to keep us up front."
Allgaier recently has been signed as a developmental driver by Penske Racing. Allgaier will be running a limited number of races in 2008 and 2009 in the NASCAR Nationwide Series for the prestigious race team.
"I really want to thank send a special thank you out to Penske Racing for all of their help preparing our ARCA car for Talladega," Allgaier explained. "As well as a special thank you to all the guys who have dedicated their time to make sure we were ready to go to the track. We've been short on time but they got it done and I am so appreciative of their efforts."
As the 2008 ARCA Series season wraps up the 2008 Championship Points standings weigh heavy in the minds of the drivers and teams. Allgaier who had been in the fifth place position jumped to the third place position in points after his win on the road course. He sits 220 points out of the lead and 155 points out of second place position.
