Well , our weekend started out as usual . We did not receive our new engine from the engine builder until Saturday morning . As we were installing the engine we found that the transmission (which had just come back from the shop) was locked up . Anyway , to make a long story short , we were ready to leave for Salem around 3:00 am . We arrived at Salem fashionably late . This is beginning to be our trademark . We practiced and the car seemed to be pretty good . It was hard to tell with the old tires we were using . We drew the tenth qualifying spot and turned a good enough lap to place us eighth on the starting grid . The race started out fine . We moved up to sixth by the end of the first lap , ran there until some of the leaders pitted around lap fifty . This moved us up to second place . We stayed there until lap sixty when the guys with new tires finally caught us . By the time we pitted at lap ninty-six we were in fourth place . We came in , changed right side tires and topped the car off with gas and returned to the track in sixth place . After we pitted, the car fell off . By the end of the race we were two laps down to the leaders . We finished in seventh place and brought the car home in one piece . This is the first year we have ran at Salem and not been caught up in someone elses trouble . We are not sure why the car fell off yet . The engine was fine , but we had trouble getting out of the corners . Hopefully we get it figured out before this weekend ,when we will be at Winchester Speedway .
Until the next time the Thunder Rolls..................
