Hickory, NC 10/16/03 Jason Jarrett and the #67 ML Motorsports crew head to South Boston Virginia this Saturday night for the Big Daddy's Liberty 200 at South Boston Speedway. Twice the weather has postponed this race, but the forecast looks good for the weekend, and there's all kinds of racing taking place from USAC to ARCA; definitely the racing place to be!
"I like ending the season on a short-track race," said Jarrett. "I think that everybody, when they get to the short-tracks, feels like they are on a more even play ground and have a much better chance to win."
"My mindset is no different. We've been good on the short tracks. The track most similar to South Boston is Lake Erie Speedway, and we had a good run there. So I'm definitely ready for this race," added Jarrett.
Jarrett goes in to the season's final event with a lock on second place in the ARCA RE/MAX Series point standings giving Jarrett that extra "drive" to push for the win.
"For me personally, we've got second wrapped up and we haven't won a race, so the focus is definitely on winning. Not that I want to go out there and do anything stupid and I'm not saying that some people would points race, but we have a little different mindset as opposed to Charlotte being our last race," remarked Jarrett. "We're just looking to end the season on a high-note to carry over into 2004."
The last race of the season brings about mixed feelings for Jarrett; he's ready for the break, but at the same time not eager for the "driving" to be over.
"I think I'm like everybody is right now. I'm ready, not necessarily for the season to be over, but just for time to regroup again, go through the "winter" stuff that everybody goes through - the off-season stuff," said Jarrett.
The ARCA RE/MAX Series main event is set to roll off at 9:00 p.m. this Saturday night.
Jason Jarrett is the driver for the #67 ML Motorsports Pontiac Grand Prix sponsored by Biomet and Damon RV. Jason is also a member of the Coca-Cola Racing Family.
