Daytona Beach, Florida (February 5, 2003) - PBM Racing is pleased to announce that it has secured NASCAR driver Shawna Robinson to drive its #65 Dodge Intrepid R/T in the ARCA/RE/MAX Advance Auto Parts 200 at Daytona International Speedway.
Aaron's Rents will be the primary sponsor on the car owned by Vern and Mary Slagh from Zeeland, Michigan. The car Shawna will be driving in Saturday's race is a 2001 Dodge Intrepid R/T built by Chip Ganassi Racing in 2001 with engines prepared by Ernie Elliott. Shawna's crew chief in the Advance Auto Parts 200 will be Marc Reno.
"I am very excited about the opportunity to compete in the ARCA race at Daytona again", said Robinson, "I finished 2nd here in the ARCA race in 1999 and I believe that PBM has provided me with a car that will give me the opportunity to run up-front on Saturday". "I want to thank Vern and Mary Slagh for giving me this opportunity and I also want to thank Beth Ann and Tony Morgenthau at BAM Racing as well as Aaron's Rents for making this a reality".
"We have watched Shawna compete in ARCA, the NASCAR Busch Series and the NASCAR Winston Cup Series the last few years and thought it would be great to have her drive one of our cars", said Vern Slagh, owner of PBM Racing. "Shawna has a lot of experience at Daytona International Speedway as well as in the ARCA/RE/MAX Series and we expect she will do well on Saturday".
Practice is scheduled for the ARCA/RE/MAX Series teams at 1:30 pm and 4:00 pm on Wednesday, February 5th. Qualifying is scheduled for Thursday, February 6th at 1:30 pm.
The ARCA/RE/MAX teams are also scheduled to practice on Friday, February 7th at 10:00 am with a final practice scheduled for 5:00 pm.
The Advanced Auto Parts 200 is scheduled for Saturday, February 8th at 4:00 pm with live coverage on Speed Channel.
