BROOKLYN MI (5-26-09) - In preparation for the upcoming Racing For Wildlife 200 at Michigan Int'l Speedway, the ARCA RE/MAX Series is headed to the renowned Brooklyn, Michigan 2-mile oval Wednesday, May 27th for a full day of open testing. The open test will also double as a Media Day. The rain date for the open test is Thursday, May 28th.

At present, 25 drivers have filed entries for the open test including one from two-time Michigan winner/9-time ARCA RE/MAX Series champion Frank Kimmel, who will be making his 22nd career start at Michigan since 1992. Kimmel, whose Michigan wins came in 1998 and 2005, is the only repeat winner at Michigan in the last 14 races there.

Also entered for the open test is current point leader Justin Lofton. Lofton, one of four drivers entered from Eddie Sharp Racing (ESR), is the current championship point leader. The Westmorland, California driver leads Penske Racing development driver Parker Kligerman by 75 points. Kligerman, who filed a test entry in the no. 77 Cunningham Motorsports Dodge, earned his career-first series victory at Toledo Speedway on May 17. Kligerman, 18, is currently finishing up his senior year in high school in Westport, Connecticut.

ESR's other drivers, all of whom are entered, are all rookies. They are New York, NY's Tim George, Jr., Greenville, NC's Craig Goess and Fort Francis, Ontario's Steve Arpin.

Other rookies entered include Miami Spring, Florida's Joey Coulter, Wildwood, Missouri's Jesse Smith and Richwood, Ohio's Zachary Gibson. Gibson is the son of ARCA Midget champion Larry Gibson.

Series veterans entered include Tom Hessert (Andy Belmont Racing), Bryan Silas (Fast Track Racing), Patrick Sheltra (Sheltra Motorsports) and Terry Jones (Jones Group Racing).

Other notables entered for the test include Austin Dillon, grandson of Richard Childress Racing team owner Richard Childress, Daytona and Kentucky winner James Buescher, Brad Keselowski Racing's Mikey Kile and Rocklin, California's Justin Marks.

Michigan drivers entered in the test include Michael Simko (Clarkston) and Larry Hollenbeck (Kalamazoo).

On track activity is scheduled from 9:00 AM through 5:00 PM with an hour break for lunch.

Located in the Irish Hills of Brooklyn, Michigan, Michigan Int'l Speedway is about an hour away from ARCA's home office in Temperance, Michigan.

The upcoming Racing For Wildlife 200 will be the 28th appearance of the ARCA RE/MAX Series at Michigan since debuting there in 1980.

Past Michigan ARCA winners include Joe Ruttman, Tim Steele, Jeff Purvis, Bob Keselowski, Kimmel, Kerry Earnhardt, Steve Wallace, Reed Sorenson, Casey Mears and Erik Darnell to name several.
