Nashville Recap: ARCA RE/MAX Series rookie Phillip McGilton enters Salem Speedway following a 17th place finish at Nashville Superspeedway earlier this month. Following Nashville, McGilton is fourth in the ARS (ARCA RE/MAX Series) championship standings.

Rookie Rumble: McGilton continues his year of firsts by competing at the historic half-mile bullring of Salem Speedway this Sunday. The event will mark the third short track event ever for the promising driver. McGilton is in good hands as the Brewco Motorsports team took the ARCA pole in this event last season with Brad Coleman aboard.

Testing, Testing 1-2-3: Unlike USA International Speedway, McGilton will have some familiarity of Salem Speedway when he rolls off for practice on Saturday. The team participated in a private test session at the Southern Indiana track before heading to Nashville Superspeedway two weeks ago. The lap times were impressive leaving high expectations for the event this weekend.

Welcome Back: SIPerformance will sponsor the No. 47 Ford Fusion this weekend at Salem Speedway. SI Performance is a mixture between a speed shop, off-road shop and a vehicle customization shop. SI Performance strives for their shop to exceed every expectation you might have for an automotive performance shop. SI Performance installs everything they sell, including quality products from WARN, Tera Manufacturing, Interco, Pit Bull, Holley, FK Rod Ends, Impact, Simpson, Demon, NOS and Banks.

Continuing To Lead The Way: In addition to running for the ARCA RE/MAX Series championship, McGilton is also running for Rookie-of-the-Year honors, which he currently leads the standings following his finish at Nashville Superspeedway. McGilton increased his lead from the last event holding a 10-point lead over fellow competitors Bryan Silas and Michael McDowell. Tim Russell who missed Nashville is 32 markers behind McGilton with female rookie Gabi Di Carlo rounding out the top-five trailing by 36 credits.

Parker To Lead The Way: A familiar face will guide rookie Phillip McGilton this weekend at Salem. Shawn Parker will serve as crew chief for the fourth ARS (ARCA RE/MAX Series) event this season. Parker has been instrumental in the success of Brewco Motorsports ARCA RE/MAX Series program the past two seasons. Parker is also married to former ARS driver Deborah Renshaw.

Brewco Motorsports, Salem Speedway Pre-Race Quotes:

Phillip McGilton, driver of the No. 47 SIPerformance Ford:

On Nashville: "The Brewco Motorsports team had some high hopes for the race, but we didn't get the finish we were looking for. Our car wasn't driving the best early in the race, we made some adjustments and we were improving, but ran out of time. I'm confident we'll be a factor when we come back to Nashville in August."

On Salem: "I really think Salem is going to be a good race. It's going to be a fun race but I think it's also going to be a race of survival. I've heard a lot about the past races there. The Brewco Motorsports team has some history at the track and I'm looking forward to continuing that this weekend."

On The Test At Salem Speedway "We were very quick on old tires. The track reminds me a lot of Darlington Raceway and Bristol Motor Speedway all in one. The track is rough and fast. Your low in turns one and two and high in three and four, almost scraping the wall. It's a very unique track. I'm not surprised why a lot of the drivers enjoy competing at Salem."

On Increasing His Rookie-of-the-Year lead: "We gained eight points from Nashville. I wasn't expecting that, but it's still real early in the season. We have to keep doing what we're doing, which is finishing races. It's also important for our team to be up front and in contention, I think our chance of doing that this weekend is very good."
