LEARNING EXPERIENCE FOR MARKS IN SALEM
SALEM, IN (4-23-07) In his second appearance at Salem Speedway, Justin Marks qualified his Dodge Charger ninth and drove his way to seventh before a cut tire and a mechanical issue caused him to fall 20 laps down. The team ended up settling with a 20th place finish.
"I continue to be impressed with the speed of the cars and the equipment I am given," Justin Marks said. "Everyone continues to do a great job week in and week out. We just have a 'monkey' on our back we can't get off. All we can do from here is just keep bringing the best effort to the track and wait for our day."
Although Marks fell out of the hunt for the win before halfway, it became an opportunity for him to take the remainder of the race to concentrate on learning more about the technique of short track racing.
"I was able to use the race to learn a lot for myself from a driver's stand point. We have a great short track program that is as competitive as anyone else's. We can now take what we learned and apply it to Winchester in two weeks. I am proud that we made the most of a bad situation and because we were able to stay out of trouble, we ended up with decent points day."
Next up for Marks and the RAB Racing crew is Kansas Speedway this Friday April, 27th 2007. Marks, who posted the fastest speed in the open ARCA RE/MAX series test with a time of 30.69 sec, was just shy of the track record of 30.54 sec posted in 2001 by current NASCAR NEXTEL Cup driver, Ryan Newman.
The Kansas Lottery 150 Grand is a one day show with Qualifying set to begin at 12:45 PM and the start of the race to follow at 4:00 PM Central time.
