Brent Brings Home Top Ten Finish at Salem

Salem, Indiana - (September 19, 2010) - Salem Speedway is a rough and tough old track so who would have guessed only three cautions. The green flag race was intense and filled with great racing throughout.

The Allgaier Motorsports team was ready for another good weekend and it started off with fifth in practice and a 10th place qualifying effort. Unfortunately the No.36 Dodge Charger broke the bell housing in practice and the team missed qualifying tech time while trying to fix the problem. This meant Brent would have to start in the back and make his way through the field.

At the drop of the green flag he was moving up quickly already in the top 15 after only a few laps. Moving up to the 12th position Brent would settle in until the first yellow flag. With a pit stop for right side tires the crew picked up spots in the pits. Brent would run in the top eight for the next long green run right with most of the lead cars. Thanks to crew chief, Dave Leiner, the car was handling great and he was just riding making laps. The final yellow flew around half way in the race and Brent brought the Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram machine down pit road one more time for four fresh Hoosiers and Sunoco fuel to make it to the end.

The final 90 plus laps went without any more cautions. The run started out great for Brent as he made some passes and ran great lap times, but as the laps wound down the handling started to fade. By the end of the race Brent found himself a lap down with most of the field, but still in tenth position after a long night of racing.

"We had a really great car on shorter runs but the last long stretch just wore us down," Brent said. "We still brought the car home without a scratch in the top ten so I'm proud of everyone's effort." The Allgaier team will head to Kansas Speedway to test on September 21 to prepare for the race the following week.
