Ryan Foster Looks for Redemption at Pocono
Foster Looking for Redemption at Pocono: Ryan Foster will return to the race track that proved to be his biggest challenge of the 2006 season, the 2.5-mile triangular track of Pocono Raceway. Foster was limited to the amount of on-track time he received during the team's first trip to the speedway due to a rocker arm breaking in practice prior to the engine breaking only six laps into the race. Foster hopes to return to Pocono this weekend and get his full practice time and hopefully tackle the challenging track with a top-ten finish to add to his impressive 2006 racing stats.
"The first trip to Pocono this season was probably the most disappointing race we have has so far," said Foster. "We had been on such a role until we had the problems at Pocono so it seemed to take the wind out of our sails, but I think we have definitely got our momentum back this time. Pocono was a pretty tricky race track in the only 14 laps that I took at the track, but I am really looking forward to getting back out there now that I have more speedway experience to draw from."
Foster once again impressed in the ARCA RE/MAX Series last weekend scoring an eighth place finish in his first visit to the Berlin Raceway. With that run Foster was able to move within 45 points of the fourth position in ARCA RE/MAX Series Championship points and only two points away from the lead in the ARCA Rookie of the Year points. While Foster continues to gain experience each weekend, he also impresses with his list of six top-ten finishes in only ten career ARCA RE/MAX Series starts.
"I didn't really start the season paying much attention to the points because I didn't get a chance to race at Daytona," said Foster. "But now that we have the ten starts behind us and we are moving into the top-five in points, I am definitely watching them more closely. I would love to finish in the top-five in points and win the Rookie of the Year title that is my goal at this point. I know our race team is strong enough to make it happen. I just need to keep learning the race tracks and focusing on consistency every weekend. It is pretty cool though to see Frank (Kimmel) leading the points again, but I am going to do my best to follow his path up through the top-five."
The Pennsylvania 200 is scheduled to take the green flag at 1:00pm ET on Saturday, July 22. The race will be broadcast live on SPEED.
