Foster Ready for Second Run at Nashville: Ryan Foster's confidence has been increasing weekly during the 2006 ARCA RE/MAX Series season as his finishes grow more consistent and he continues to climb in the series point's championship. Foster is excited about returning to the Nashville Superspeedway for the second time this season after moving his way into the third place in ARCA RE/MAX Series points standings and taking the lead in ARCA Rookie of the Year points.
"I'm pretty excited about taking the third spot in points and leading the rookie points again," said Foster. "That was one of our goals for this season along with consistent finishes each weekend. The team has really given me great cars and I have been able to learn so much about these cars and these race tracks from Frank (Kimmel) every week."
Foster made his first career ARCA RE/MAX Series start at the 1.33-mile Nashville Superspeedway in April where he qualified in the 20th position and moved his way into the 13th position when the checkered flag flew. While Foster was pleased with his first performance at the track, he also knows how conservative he was in that first race. But with 12 races now behind him, he is looking forward to another shot on the concrete and maybe even a shot at the Gibson guitar.
"I really liked that Nashville track when we raced here in the spring," said Foster. "We had a full day to test and then we ran pretty well in the race. But with that being my first ARCA race, I was pretty conservative in order to gain some respect from fellow racers. Now that I have more experience racing with these guys, I would really like to work on getting a win before the season is over."
Foster took the ARCA Rookie of the Year points lead back at Gateway Int'l Raceway two weeks ago and he is no stranger to winning ROTY titles with two already to his name. In 2002 Foster was ROTY in A-Class Mini Sprints and in 2004 he was ROTY at Ocala Speedway in the Super Late Model cars. But to earn the ARCA Rookie of the Year award this season could help propel Foster into the spotlight of future stars of motorsports.
Foster is currently third in ARCA Championship points, 375 points behind Bobby Gerhart. The ARCA 200 from Nashville Superspeedway is scheduled for 3:00pm ET on Saturday, August 12 and will be televised live on SPEED.
