Points Leader, Matt Carter Posts a Top 10 Finish at The Rock
Rockingham, NC (5-6-2008) Historic Rockingham Speedway and the ARCA RE/MAX series brought the sound of engines back to The Rock , Sunday, with an historic starting grid of fifty cars for the inaugural Carolina 500. As Tony Stewart dropped the green flag, Matt Carter, driver of the No. 46 Stine Seed/Liberty Link - Fort Dodge Animal Health Ford Fusion, roared to top speeds in the No. 6 position.
Carter did a phenomenal job throughout the day avoiding spin ups and wrecks. The crew made many adjustments to a non-responsive car, yet Carter drove his machine to score a No. 8 finish and yet again secure his No. 1 position as the series point leader.
"We started off decent - just couldn't keep up with track", said Carter. "As the race went on, we were off a little bit. We made some adjustments and it just seemed like the car didn't want to listen. I got into the wall a couple of times - maybe overdrove the car just a little bit. I am looking forward to going to Kentucky and trying something a little bit different. After we get back and make a few adjustments, I think we'll be a lot better. We get the car driving better we'll be tough. We kept the points lead and that was good."
Larry Clement, team owner and spotter, complimented Carter after a very long day and a long race. "Matt did a great job driving the car to the finish line in one piece and getting a top 10 finish. The car was good during practice and after the first set of tires seemed to be acceptable. We made adjustments during the race and the car just didn't want to respond, but all in all we kept the points lead and it can't be a bad day with that outcome."
