#37 Dexter Bean/Team GLOCK Racing finish 11th at Rockingham
The #37 GLOCK Chevrolet ran in the Carolina 500 on Sunday afternoon in the ARCA RE/MAX Series event at Rockingham Speedway. This was the first race at the historical track since 2004. There were 50 competitors that participated in the long event (312 miles/312 miles) and the GLOCK Chevrolet crossed the finish line in the 11th position.
The race day weather was beautiful, but very warm for the drivers and entirely different than the conditions the last couple weekends in Kansas, Iowa and Indiana. "It was a long day, but we hung in there. We were constantly adjusting the car to make it better. The pit crew did great they definitely helped me gain position on the track. It also helped having Jeff Spraker as my spotter today. "
Tire management was the key to finishing the race at the abrasive track and extreme temperatures did not help the situation. "It was a different scenario my first time at Rockingham with the tire issues. It would have been great if we were able to have more tires than what the teams were allowed to have. Without new tires, it really made for a tough race. There was a long green flag run where we fell behind a lap. The number 25 car was extremely stout today. We are happy with the finish, but still want to do a lot better. We did well in points today which is what we needed," said Dexter.
Only a handful of drivers at Rockingham had run this many laps in their racing career. Team GLOCK Racing felt that this was their turning point of the season and great things are in store for the Westby, WI driver and his team.
Team GLOCK Racing will head to Kentucky this week to race in the Drive Smart! Buckle Up Kentucky 150 from Kentucky Speedway in Sparta on Saturday, May 10th at 8p.m. Live timing and scoring will be available for all sessions on arcaracing.com for the Kentucky event.
