PATRICK SHELTRA SLOTTED FOR ARCA RE/MAX DRIVER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
INDIANTOWN, FL (January 24, 2006) - Nineteen-year-old "Mr. Showtime" Patrick Sheltra inked a deal today with Bobby Jones Racing. The native Floridian will participate in the Mooresville, NC, based team's driver development program in the highly competitive ARCA RE/MAX Series. Sheltra participated in multiple tests with Jeremy Clements Racing in 2005 and made his first series start at Chicagoland Speedway.
The alliance between the young talent and Bobby Jones' self-owned team should prove to be a potent force on the track. Team owner Bobby Jones is an icon in automotive innovation and testing advances and has over four decades of experience in the automotive industry. Working with legends such as Bud Moore, Junior Johnson, Cale Yarbrough, Darrell Waltrip, Mark Martin, Rick Hendrick and the Ford Motor Company, Jones has honed his skills in the best NASCAR, ARCA and NHRA shops. He has assembled a network of highly skilled mechanics, fabricators and engineers at his North Carolina shop to prepare all race entries for Sheltra and the team's other drivers.
Sheltra's 2006 ARCA RE/MAX season will include at least five events with the BJR team. Tentative plans are for the spring races at the Nashville Super Speedway and Kentucky Speedway before visiting the triangular Pocono Raceway and NASCAR companion events at Michigan International Speedway and Kansas Speedway. More information on these venues and events can be found online at http://www.arcaracing.com.
When asked about the opportunity with Bobby Jones Racing, Sheltra's enthusiasm was evident.
"It is an exciting venture for me and I have to thank everyone at Bobby Jones Racing for the opportunity to be involved in their ARCA Driver Development Program," commented the driver who was traveling back to Florida from North Carolina. "They have great equipment and provide one of the best cars on the ARCA RE/MAX Series circuit today. More information will be made available concerning the ride, as soon as all of the details are finalized."
