Allgaier conquers the Nashville Superspeedway
LEBANON, TN (April 8, 2007) - Justin Allgaier conquers the Nashville Superspeedway scoring an 11th place finish in the ARCA RE/MAX Series ARCA 150 Saturday afternoon after starting in the 27th place position on the grid.
Allgaier had made a battery of changes to the No. 16 AG Tech-Trashman-Hoosier Midwest-USAF Chevrolet after practice hoping to improve the car for their qualifying run. Disappointed the car did not gain the speed they had hoped, Allgaier placed the Chevrolet Monte Carlo in the 27th place on the starting grid after posting a time of 30.298 seconds at a speed of 158.387 miles per hour.
"We weren't very good in practice," Justin Allgaier said. "We threw a bunch of stuff at the car after practice to make it better. Our qualifying run was not great but we'd be able to adjust what we needed come race time."
Remaining undiscouraged, the team led by crew chief Larry Moore knew they would be able to improve their position in the race. With executed maneuvers, Allgaier was able to advance during the race and was in the tenth place position late in the event when another competitor got by him settling him in the 11th place position.
I was running 10th late in the race and let a lead lap car get by me," Allgaier said. "By letting him go we lost the spot to Dexter (Bean) who also got Frank (Kimmel) a bit loose and by him as well. Only eight cars were on the lead lap at the end so I'll settle for 11th. It was a great race. Cale Gale led just about the whole race when at the green/white/checkered restart; (Chad) McCumbee was able to get past him."
"It was a lot of fun today and in the scheme of things on a bad day but how bad was it -- for us it's a good point's day and we gained momentum in the season heading to the next race. I want to wish my Dad a happy birthday -- it's on Easter. We had a great day and left with barely a scratch on the car and we hope to keep the momentum right into Salem."
Allgaier improved his best finish at the Nashville Superspeedway from the 16th place spot he placed last fall in the ARCA RE/MAX Series race. After the third of the 23 race ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule Allgaier sits second in the Championship Points race with 580 points, just five points behind leader and Eight-time Series Champion Frank Kimmel who has 585 points.
The ARCA RE/MAX Series is off next week but returns to the Salem Speedway for the running of the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200 presented by Federated Auto Parts race Sunday, April 22, 2007.
