No. 9 Kikkoman Ford Taurus
STATESVILLE, N.C. (April 9, 2003) -- Hideo Fukuyama will attempt to qualify the No. 9 Kikkoman Ford Taurus for Friday's PFG Lester 150 ARCA RE/MAX event at Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway.
Fukuyama was scheduled to qualify for last month's ARCA race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, however, the field was set based on points when the qualifying session was rained out.
From the No. 9 Kikkoman driver Hideo Fukuyama
Are you looking forward to the PFG Lester 150 race?
"Yes, I'm looking forward to it. The results from testing at the Nashville Superspeedway were pretty good, so I think I feel more comfortable than I did in that first Winston Cup race (Las Vegas Motor Speedway)."
What kind of challenges do you face going into the PFG Lester 150?
"I've only run in one (stock car) race this year, so I still have a lot to learn about stock car racing -- that's my main goal. I want to be able to complete the race so I have the chance to learn as much as possible and perform well."
From the No. 9 Kikkoman Crew Chief Gary Cogswell
Hideo turned the third fastest test time during a recent ARCA series open-testing session at Nashville Superspeedway. Based on that, do you have higher expectations for the race?
"Yes, I do have high expectations for the race. I feel like we can qualify well, I feel like we can race well. I like the Nashville Superspeedway. I like the facilities, it's concrete, and I'm really looking forward to hitting that racetrack."
