NOTES OF INTEREST: Fresh from the 2.5-mile Pocono triangle to the 1.33-mile concrete Nashville Superspeedway, the versatile ARCA RE/MAX Series is set to make their 2nd appearance of the year on the new Nashville oval. From Nashville, the world's most diverse tour heads to the Springfield, IL 1-mile dirt oval before steering for the half-mile Berlin Raceway bullring in Marne, MI.
Two-time ARCA RE/MAX Series champion and current point leader Frank Kimmel, along with third-generation drivers Jason Jarrett and Justin Labonte headline a stellar list of entrants for this Saturday's race.
Kimmel, along with car owner Larry Clement, announced earlier this week that their Advance Auto Parts-Pork team will attempt 3 NASCAR Winston Cup starts yet this year at Lowe's, Martinsville and Atlanta.
Jarrett, son of 99 Winston Cup champion Dale Jarrett, leads the ARCA Rookie of the Year standings and won his career-first superspeedway race earlier this year at Kansas Speedway.
Labonte, son of 2-time Winston Cup champion Terry Labonte, will be the first to debut a Dodge Intrepid in ARCA RE/MAX Series competition at Nashville. In 4 previous ARCA RE/MAX starts in Terry Labonte-owned Chevrolets, the younger Labonte posted career-best finishes of 2nd at Atlanta Motor Speedway and 4th at Lowe's Motor Speedway.
Entries have also been received from ARCA veteran and second in points Andy Belmont as well as 2nd-generation driver Todd Bowsher who is the son of 3-time ARCA RE/MAX Series driving champion Jack Bowsher. 2nd-generation driver Billy Venturini, son of 2-time ARCA RE/MAX champion Bill Venturini, is also entered. Tennessee drivers entered include Nashville native and rookie Chase Montgomery who posted his career-best finish of 5th at Kentucky Speedway earlier this year after starting outside pole; Franklin, TN favorite Randal Ritter who has filed an entry with sponsorship from Miss Audrey's Fried Pies; Soddy Daisy, TN standout and 99 ARCA Rookie of the year Ron Cox (currently 5th in points); Tim Mitchell out of Fayetteville, TN; Chattanooga, TN driver Eric Martin and John Neal out of Tazewell, TN who will make his first ARCA RE/MAX attempt at Nashville. NASCAR Winston Cup and Busch Series veteran Ed Berrier is entered in the Target Saws & Blades Chevy while RE/MAX International team driver John Metcalf is also entered. Metcalf is another driver coming off a career-best finish -- 2nd at Kentucky Speedway.
