Carter Sets Expectations for Michigan

Statesville, NC (06-10-08) Matt Carter and the No. 46 Stine Seed Ford Fusion team are packing up and heading north to Michigan International Speedway to compete in Fridays' ARCA RE/MAX series Racing for Wildlife 200. The 2.0 mile D-shaped oval is the ninth stop of the series schedule and the third superspeedway race of the season.

It was just two weeks ago, at Michigan, that Carter turned out a very positive test session and therefore can come into this weekends' race with high expectations. "Of course we want to win", said Carter. "What we need to do is just go out and get a top 5 and I expect to do that especially after our test the other day. We were a lot better than we had been at the other superspeedways. So hopefully we will not have any bad luck and get a top 5."

Carter experienced bitter sweet endings at both Daytona and Pocono but showed extreme competitive strength using the draft and a working knowledge of how to maneuver around superspeedways. "Michigan is most likely the fastest track we race and probably has the most room for racing," said Carter. "You can run on the bottom or up at the wall and anywhere in between; you can move around a lot to find where your car works the best. It should be a lot of fun and I am really looking forward to racing there."

While burning rubber on Michigan's pavement is a first for Carter, being at the track is not. "I've never raced there, but like Pocono, it is one track I used to go to a lot with dad because it was summer and I was out of school. However, I would have never imagined that I would be racing there." Carter will take on the superspeedway of the north Friday, June 13 at 5:15 pm EST and you can watch the No. 46 Stine Seed Ford Fusion roll off of pit road live on SPEED.
