ERGON TEAM TO BUILD ON SEASON BEST FINISH
MITCHELL READY FOR BUSY MONTH OF RACING
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Raybestos Rookie Contender Marc Mitchell Comments on Cool City Customs 200:
"We just came off a decent finish at Texas. Twelfth-place isn't exactly where we wanted to end up, but we are getting better every weekend. The on-track performance is definitely where we like it. The trucks that Billy Ballew Motorsports prepares are always top notch. We've had a little trouble on some of our pit stops and there are a few other things that we can improve on to finish in the top-10 or top-five because that is what this team deserves.
"We're going to several different track configurations over the next few weeks. We just left a mile-and-a-half; we'll be racing at a two-mile track this week and going to a one-mile track, followed up by a short track. Some drivers think it's tough to develop consistency, but it is not really a big deal. One thing that I feel that I am really good at is adapting to the race tracks real quick. About 75% of the tracks I'm going to go to I probably have never seen. Michigan is one of them, and Texas was as well, but we ended up doing pretty good there.
"We feel that Michigan should be a good track for us. We were really good at practice in California earlier this year. I feel that might be somewhat similar to the Michigan track. Both tracks have a long frontstretch with wide, sweeping turns. It takes a ton of horsepower to get around there, which sounds like it's custom made for the Ergon Toyota. Either way, we are going to put the Ergon Tundra up front in qualifying and have good track position going into the race.
"I'm stoked about skydiving with the Golden Knights. I've never gone skydiving before so it's going to be a thrill. Those guys are amazing and it's an honor to jump with them. I've got my pilots license and love being up in the air. I've always been in the plane, though. This will be the first time that I've hopped out of a perfectly good airplane. We'll have a lot of fun. That's for sure."
