BUESCHER BOUND FOR MICHIGAN, UNDEFEATED STREAK INTACT
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (June 9, 2009) -- For James Buescher, the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series is the same song repeating on a loop. Step 1: Show up to a race track you've never raced on. Step 2: Win the Race. Step 3: Repeat.
And the loop keeps turning for the 19-year-old Buescher, who is on the prowl for his third consecutive ARCA RE/MAX Series win in 2009, hoping to keep his undefeated streak alive. Behind the wheel of the No. 32 Wolfpack Rentals entry, Buescher once again hopes to triumph at a track at which he has yet to compete: Michigan International Speedway.
Buescher recently tested at the Brooklyn, Mich. facility but has yet to race--a situation similar to those of his efforts at Daytona and Kentucky earlier this year in which he not only won each race but led the most laps on each occasion. The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series rookie is running a limited number of ARCA races this season with the Win-Tron Racing team.
If Buescher scores a win Friday, he'll join an exclusive list of ARCA Michigan winners that includes current NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers David Stremme, Reed Sorenson, and Casey Mears and current NASCAR Nationwide Series drivers Erik Darnell and Steve Wallace.
The Racing for Wildlife 200 at Michigan International Speedway will start at 5 pm EST on Friday, June 12. Following the race by watching the live telecast on SPEED or by listening to the ARCA Racing Network's broadcast of the event on arcaracing.com.
JAMES'S THOUGHTS ON RACING AT MICHIGAN
What do you look to gain from racing at Michigan International Speedway?
"A third win (laughs). Besides that, I'd like to get some experience to go toward the Truck race (to be run on Saturday afternoon), get good track time and knowledge of what the track might do the next day."
Do you feel you can keep your perfect winning percentage going?
"We definitely have a good opportunity to do it (win three in a row). This Win-Tron team has been awesome all year. This will be the third different car in three races that I've sat in, so there's no telling exactly how the weekend will go but if it's anything like the way the rest of this year has gone, there's no doubt it will be good."
