19-Year-old Mason Mitchell will make his debut with Mason Mitchell Motorsports this weekend at the historic Daytona International Speedway in preparation for the Daytona 51st running of the ARCA 200 on Saturday February 15th.
2013 marked Mitchell’s rookie campaign with the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards finishing sixth in drivers points and third in the rookie of the year standings.
Mitchell has 1 previous start at Daytona last February starting 23rd and finishing 13th.
“I’m ecstatic to get on track. We’ve had a lot of early mornings and late nights working on the car to get it done in time.”
Mitchell will sport the historic number 98 during his 2014 season in the ARCA Racing Series. The late Benny Parsons won back-to-back ARCA championships in 1968 and 1969 driving the No. 98. Parsons would go on to become the 1973 Winston Cup Champion.
“I couldn’t be more honored to drive the No. 98 in 2014. Benny was a great man and represented the sport well. I hope we make the entire Parsons family proud.”
Mitchell will be pared with veteran crew chief Teddy Brown for the 2014 season. The duo ran the final five races of the 2013 season together earning five top 10 finishes, three top 5’s and back-to-back runner-up finishes at Kentucky and Kansas to end the 2013 season. “It’s a big advantage already having experience working with mason. We work well together and he gives great feedback. We’ve worked over 100 hours in the last seven days getting ready for this test.”
Arcaracing.com will have live timing/scoring of the three day test at Daytona International Speedway starting Friday morning.
