Damon Lusk to Drive the #65 SPS Brack Maggard Racing Dodge
MOORESVILLE, NC (3-2-06) Damon Lusk, an ARCA RE/MAX Series veteran, will now pilot the #65 SPS Dodge for Brack Maggard Racing (BMR) beginning at Nashville Superspeedway April, 15th 2006. Lusk, who started off the 2006 ARCA RE/MAX Series' ARCA 200 at Daytona International Speedway with a 5th place finish, is scheduled to run a full ARCA RE/MAX schedule with BMR.
"I am really excited," Damon Lusk said about joining BMR. "I can't Thank Brack (Maggard) enough. He has given me a great opportunity to team up with a talented group of people. I feel like with this group of guys we should be able to win races right out of the box and have a good shot at contending for the ARCA RE/MAX Championship."
Since 2000, Lusk has competed in 33 ARCA races picking up 1 pole, 7 top 5's, 15 top 10's and 2 wins at Atlanta Motor Speedway and Pocono Raceway in 2002. He also led the ARCA Championship point's race for first 11 races in 2002. Along with the ARCA series, Lusk has also competed in NASCAR's Busch, Truck, Featherlite Southwest, Northwest, and Dodge Weekly Series.
Crew Chief and General Manager Robby Benton is optimistic about the future of this team. Benton who has raced with Lusk in the ARCA RE/MAX Series in the past has witnessed Lusk's on track ability.
"I am looking forward to working with Damon," Benton said. "I raced with him while I was still driving and I have a lot of respect for his racing ability. He is a proven winner and brings a level of experience as well as a focus on chasing the 2006 ARCA RE/MAX Championship. As for Walt Brannen, our desire is to still enter him in limited ARCA RE/MAX events in order to continue his development in this sport. Walt has a lot of talent and a promising future, so bringing in Damon I feel that Walt, as well as this young team, will benefit from Damon's talent and experience in this series."
In order for this team to have room to grow, BMR will be moving from their current shop in Mooresville, North Carolina into a larger facility in Denver, NC. The shop is equipped with 15,000 sq. ft. of shop space, meeting rooms and office suits to accommodate the expected growth.
"We are now starting the moving process from Mooresville to Denver," Benton said. "The larger space will give us the room to expand and the opportunity to build a few more cars in preparation to make a championship run."
The first race for Damon Lusk and this BMR team is scheduled for Nashville Superspeedway April 15th, and will be aired live on SPEED Channel starting at 12:30 PM ET.
