Daytona Recap: Sophomore ARCA RE/MAX Series driver Dexter Bean rallied back from an early race incident and a deep starting position to post a solid 16th place in the ARCA 200 at Daytona last month. Bean made his second career ARS (ARCA RE/MAX Series) start at Daytona International Speedway.
Bean Glad To Be Back: If there is one driver on the tour excited about returning to a short track, Dexter Bean raises his hand high. Producing very strong short track results in the later stages of his rookie season last year Dexter Bean feels that Saturday's event could yield his first career victory.
Favorite Car: When the BlackJack Racing teams rolls off their No. 6 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS off the hauler this weekend, they'll be pulling off the same car that sat on the pole in the Eddie Gilstrap Motors ARCA Fall Classic by Advance Auto Parts last September at Salem Speedway. It was the first career Pork pole award for BlackJack Racing and Dexter Bean. Bean controlled the field for 64 laps before finishing 11th.
Dexter Bean, driver of the No. 6 Five Star Telecom Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS:
On Daytona: "We're off to a better start this season than last year. We struggled in practice and qualifying but we knew we had a great drafting car. The start of the race was showing just how strong our BlackJack Racing team was. Unfortunately, we got tangled in an early accident. It took a lot of the handling away from the car, but we stayed on the lead lap and finished the race. The day turned out a lot better than I thought it was going to be."
On USA International Speedway: "I think it's a great move for the ARCA RE/MAX Series to fill the gap from the previous years and add a new track to the schedule. We didn't have the opportunity to test at USA International Speedway, but I still think we will be good. I love short track racing in the ARCA RE/MAX Series, I can't wait for Saturday night."
On His Team: "What can I say about my BlackJack Racing team? They are awesome. They work around the clock to try and make us number one. I wouldn't change my crew for the world. They are very dedicated and support me 150 percent. They are a testament about what a team is all about."
On The 2007 Season: "Our team is looking forward to this season. We learned a lot in our rookie year of competition and I think our team will only be better this year. Our cars are better prepared, we have a strong engine package. We're looking for additional sponsorship, so we have a lot going on. I think we can be a threat for the championship, we just need some luck on and off the track to make everything a reality."
