ARCA RE/MAX & Lake Erie Speedway announce plans for 2003

North East, PA, 11/13/02 - Excitement filled the air as ARCA RE/MAX officials, Jim Clarke and Zach Drager along with veteran series driver, Andy Belmont, formally announced at a press conference today the addition of the newly-built Lake Erie Speedway to the 2003 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule with a race date of July 12, 2003.

Belmont, a native of Pennsylvania, was on hand to participate in the festivities along with his brand new #1 ARCA RE/MAX racecar on display for members of the media to see and take pictures. Belmont, sponsored by telecommunications giant, Verizon, is eagerly anticipating the series debut at this brand new facility.

"We can't wait to go to a great race track in our home state," remarked Belmont. "We're looking forward to the ARCA RE/MAX series event at Lake Erie Speedway. We are going to put on a great show for the folks in Pennsylvania and, for me personally, I'm anxious to race the Verizon #1 against Frank and Jason and all the guys in the series. We're going to show the fans the same hospitality at this new track as demonstrated by Pocono International Raceway, also located in Pennsylvania," added Belmont.

Lake Erie Speedway, a 3/8 mile asphalt track is 60 feet wide with a12 foot apron, and with what is referred to as "compounded" banking (6-8-10-12) through the corners. This first-class facility held its inaugural season in 2002 and is already in the process of adding more seats for the upcoming race events scheduled for 2003. The grounds are immaculate; the infield has a state of the art media center (some say would put many Winston Cup tracks to shame), and even boasts of a turn four photographers stand with three tiers of standing area to ensure no one's sight line is blocked.

Located just off of Interstate 86, it's easily accessible from any direction, just a short 15 minute commute from the shore of Lake Erie, and offers one of the most beautiful spots in the country for a racetrack with Lake Erie actually visible off in the distance.

The ARCA RE/MAX Series welcomes the opportunity to join with Lake Erie Speedway in presenting a spectacular, sure to be action-packed short-track racing event, and, hopefully, develop a long-standing relationship with this exciting new facility.
