Kentucky Speedway's 2002 race season opens Friday, May 10, at 4:00 p.m., as the $152-million facility opens its gates for practice sessions for"The Auto Body Panels Short Track Special." Qualifying heats for the USAC National Midget Car Series, ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series and Baby Grand Series begin at 8:00 p.m., and will be followed by series feature races on the speedway's paved quarter-mile track.

Gates open at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, for the inaugural ARCA RE/MAX Series"The Channel 5-155." The day will be filled with family entertainment activities including a special" Mom's Garage" tent on the concourse. The tent will feature activities for mom including a KOI Auto Parts"Powder Puff" Oil Change Demonstration, a women's investment seminar, a health presentation by WLWT-TV Healthwatch 5 news reporter Lisa Cooney and much more. The day also will feature a concert by country singing star Chely Wright on the WUBE-FM B-105 Soundstage on the Turn 1 concourse. The concert will lead into pre-race festivities that begin at 7:00 p.m. The green flag drops for"The Channel 5-155" at 8:00 p.m.

2002 Kentucky Speedway Season Ticket, Coca-Cola 4 Pack Deadline Is Thursday, May 9

Race fans can still reserve their seat for all 2002 race events at Kentucky Speedway by ordering season tickets and the Coca-Cola 4 Pack. Season ticket packages include preferred parking passes which guarantee fans a parking space in the lots nearest the speedway entrances. The Coca-Cola 4 Pack includes a ticket to each main event of each weekend at Kentucky Speedway, a special Coca-Cola Kentucky Speedway t-shirt, and coupons for two Coca-Cola 12 packs.

"Kentucky Speedway" Interstate 71 Exit 55 To Officially Open Wednesday, May 8

The official opening of the new I-71 Exit 55 interchange, the first portion of a $35.8 million highway project from I-71 to US-42 is planned for May 8th at 3:00 PM. near the interchange.

Three-time ARCA RE/MAX Series Champion Frank Kimmel, Governor Paul E.Patton, Secretary of Transportation James Codell, Gallatin County Judge Executive George Zubaty, Speedway Owner Jerry Carroll and others are expected to be on hand.

In case of rain, the event will be at the Speedway's Infield Media Center.

Leffler Added To Probable Entry List For"The Auto Body Panels Short Track Special" USAC Midget Race At Kentucky May 10.

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and USAC National Midget Car Series driver Jason Leffler is schedule to appear in the May 10 USAC event at Kentucky. Leffler's best USAC finish of 2002 is seventh in the feature race at Nazareth, Pa., on April 21. Leffler piloted the No. 2 Team ASE Dodge to a second-place finish in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event in St. Louis, Mo., on Sunday, May 5.
