The Nice, France native feels comfortable behind the wheel and with his team at Bowsher Motorsports. "Just a few months ago, I never imagined that the Bowsher Motorsports team and I would work together so well," said Disdier. "We work so well together, they make me feel like family. The whole crew is really important to me and it makes me feel good to be around such a good group of people."
Disdier always strives for improvement and that is exactly what he did Saturday. Disdier picked up almost a full second from his final practice on Friday to qualifying on Saturday. His qualifying lap of 31.679 seconds put the No. 21 22nd on the starting grid.
The yellow flag dropped early in the race on lap 4. After a couple more cautions, the Bowsher Motorsports crew prepared for a clean pit stop on lap 27. After receiving gas only, Disdier was off to try to gain track position. After recording his fastest time of the race on lap 33, Disdier maintained track position.
Just before the halfway point on lap 41, Disdier came down pit road for his final pit stop. With the car handling good and track position very important, crew chief Jim Sweeney called for a routine gas only stop. After the last yellow flag dropped, Disdier recorded his second fastest lap on lap 80. Disdier took the checkered flag with a solid 19th place finish.
"We raced very smart and once again we ran in the top-20 the entire race," said Todd Bowsher, team manager/spotter/mentor. "We had a great car and I think that shows with the second fastest time coming so late in the race at lap 80. We will use this experience and continue to move forward at Berlin this weekend."Michel Disdier continues on drawing attention to the sport of racing in France. "More and more people in France are becoming fans of NASCAR," stated Disdier. "I am proud to be a part of this sport and I feel privileged to be a part of the growing interest in my country. I realize that I am getting an opportunity of a life time. I am not ready to stop here......this is where I belong!"
The next event for Michel Disdier and the Bowsher Motorsports team will be the Wolverine Power Systems 200 presented by Generac at Berlin Raceway Saturday, July 25.
