Alli Owens has two very good reasons to be excited about competing in Friday's ARCA RE/MAX Kentucky 150 at Kentucky Speedway. The 19-year- old driver turned the fourth fastest lap in the open test session held at the 1.5 mile speedway a few weeks ago. She is heading into the race with increased confidence.

"I love Kentucky," said Owens, driver of the No. 12 ElectrifyingCareers.com Chevrolet. "It's so much fun to drive. It reminds me of Tri County Speedway in NC. Heading into a race after coming off such a strong showing in the test is always a great feeling." The second and more personal reason she is excited is because at least 15 family members, who have never seen Owens compete in person, will attend their first race. Owens was born in Centralia, IL, a small community located a few hours west. Much of her family still lives in that area.

"A lot of my family will be at this race," said Owens. "It marks the first time that anyone outside of my immediate family will be attending one of my races. Aunt, Uncles, cousins, a whole bunch of them. They are going to have a blast."

On Wednesday night, Alli Owens spent the night at Applebee's Park in Lexington, Ky. The driver of the No. 12 ElectrifyingCareers.com Chevrolet signed autographs before the game and had the honor of throwing out the ceremonial first pitch for the Lexington Legends. It marked the second time this season that Owens has had the privilege of tossing out the first pitch at a baseball game. In June, the 19-year-old threw out the first pitch as the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees game in Moosic, Pa.

On July 24, Alli Owens and a select few accomplished female racers will be recognized at the Sixth Annual Women in the Winner's Circle Luncheon hosted by Lyn St. James' Winner's Circle Foundation. The event is being held at the Plaza Village Pavilion at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. "It's an awesome day to honor women in racing," said Owens. "We get to meet other female racers from different forms of motorsports - from NHRA to IRL. We share ideas, discuss issues and trade stories. It's fantastic."
