Bean and Team GLOCK Have a Tough Night in Kentucky
In the 6th race of the season in the ARCA RE/MAX Series, Dexter Bean and Team GLOCK traveled to Sparta, Kentucky to compete in the Drive Smart! Buckle Up Kentucky 150 on Saturday evening.
The 21 year old Westby, WI native qualified 24th for the race with a time of 31.575 and a speed of 171.021. By the lap 4 caution, Dexter was running in the 19th position. Team GLOCK made a pit stop during the caution on lap 12 for an adjustment and four tires. By lap 38, Dexter was running in the 11th position and in 6th by lap 42.
On lap #80, Dexter was in the 14th position when a car spun out in front of him which caused Dexter to hit him from behind. With some front end damage to the GLOCK Chevrolet, Team GLOCK made a pit stop, repaired the car and came back out in the 21st position. Team GLOCK made another pit stop on lap #87 to give attention to the rubbing from the front left tire. After the stop, they were down to position 30.
Bean describes the evening's unfortunate events, "Team GLOCK was having a strong run and we had a top ten car. We pitted for new tires to get us in the top five. We got bottled up in a late race wreck and tried to avoid it, but got hit by another car. We suffered some fender and tire rub that we had to fix under green. A good day went sour fast. We'll get ready for Toledo and keep our confidence up for a top finish."
Jeff Spraker of Spraker Racing Enterprises was Dexter's spotter in Kentucky, "We ran well but had a tough night. Our pit strategy helped us tremendously, but we were hit by a car as we tried to avoid the wreck. We continue to keep our heads up and we'll come out strong in Toledo."
The next stop for #37 Dexter Bean/Team GLOCK Racing will be at the Toledo Speedway to race in the Sunday, May 18th Hantz Group 200 presented by Federated Car Care.
