Berlin Brings Better Luck for Allgaier
Marne, Michigan (July 16, 2006) - Justin Allgaier, coming off two difficult ARCA RE/MAX Series races, rebounds Saturday at the Berlin Speedway in Marne, Michigan. Allgaier qualified the No. 16 Chevrolet Monte Carlo in the four place position for the 200 lap race.
Throughout the race, Allgaier maintained a top-five position and looked to bring home a second place finish until he clipped the wall coming off turn four causing concern for damage on the right rear of the Monte Carlo. Allgaier, losing track position, pitted under caution believing he had a rear tire going down from the incident and returned to the track out of the top-ten. With only 20 laps remaining, Allgaier battled back into the top-ten, finishing in the ninth position.
"I really like this racetrack," Allgaier said. "It's a fun track and there was a lot of really great racing out there today. We had a great car all day and I thought we could bring home second if not go for the win until I caught the wall out of turn four. After that I really thought we had a right rear going down so I made the call to pit on the next caution. Larry (Moore, crew chief) and the guys on the team did a good job in the pits but with only twenty laps to go, I was 15th or 16th on the restart. I knew I'd have some work cut out for me to get through traffic. I was determined to have a good finish tonight. We've had bad luck the last few weeks and have taken a large hit in points. Tonight should help -- I would have liked to see a better finish for us but we'll take ninth and head to Pocono next weekend."
Allgaier's weekend doesn't end at Berlin; he heads to Sun Prairie, Wisconsin to race his midget car tonight. You can see Allgaier and the rest of the ARCA RE/MAX Series drivers at the next event Saturday, July 22nd at the Pocono Raceway.
