Nebraska's Josh Krug To Run Limited ASA Late Model & ARCA Schedules For The 2005 Season.
Omaha, NE (February 1, 2005)- Krug Racing along with Sponsor Johnson Hardware Co. of Omaha, NE announced plans to run a limited ASA Late Model schedule and a limited ARCA/Remax schedule for the 2005 season. Josh Krug the 18yr old from Omaha, NE will again pilot the # 4 racecars.
Josh Krug comes off his first year of pavement racing in 2004 winning the last six late model features in a row that he raced at the famous high-banked I-70 Speedway in Odessa, MO. Prior to 2004, Josh raced dirt late models in 2003 where he had several feature wins including his first time in a racecar. Josh will also run some special late model events at I-70 Speedway in 2005. Josh's winning success in 2004 as a true rookie captured the eye of several NASCAR team owners including Roush Racing to compete for their new Craftsman Truck driver. Josh was one of the final ten drivers (out of 400 candidates) testing for Roush Racing at North Wilksboro and Darlington Speedway in November.
"Although we were at only a couple ASA Late Model shows last season, we really enjoyed the ASA Late Model atmosphere. I think it is a great series for a young driver to get a good feel for organized professional racing" says father and team owner Pat Krug. "Ron and Sandy Varney are good people and have done a great job with this series. We plan to race as many ASA events as possible, but we will probably have to miss the shows in Pennsylvania and Michigan" says Krug. "It is just too far from Nebraska. Josh is still in high school, and he will graduate in May. That will free up our schedule". Josh will continue his education in the fall in pursuit of a degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of NE.
In 2005 Josh will also compete in the ARCA/Remax series. With some help and new car recently purchased from A.J. Foyt Racing, Krug will race in about five ARCA/Remax events in the Midwest. Josh has received license approval from ARCA to drive the 800 HP, 3300LB NASCAR Cup Style Car.
Josh and his crew look forward to the start of the 2005 season. In the off season Josh has been racing in Internet leagues on-line where he wins regularly. "Josh just has a knack for winning races. It is exciting every time he goes on the track, even on the computer!" says Pat Krug.
