Hedlesky Excited For Return to Toledo
Huntersville, NC. (May 17) -- Jason Hedlesky is very excited about his return trip "home" to compete this Sunday in the Hantz Group 200 ARCA RE/MAX Series race at Toledo Speedway. For Hedlesky and his Hardcore Motorsports team, Sunday's race at Toledo will be a homecoming of sorts. Hedlesky's hometown, Clinton, MI, is only one hour north of Toledo. "My dad took me to Toledo every Sunday night to watch guys like Joy Fair, Chuck Roumell, and Fred Campbell race," said Hedlesky. "I spent a lot of time there over the years and I am really looking forward to my return."
Toledo will mark the sixth race of the 2006 ARCA RE/MAX Series season. The first quarter of the schedule had its ups and downs for Hedlesky and the Hardcore Motorsports team. The season started on a high note for them with a solid 11th place finish at Daytona. Since leaving Daytona, the team has been on a bit of a roller coaster ride, including relocating the race shop back to Michigan after spending some time in Mooresville, NC. "We have had a tough couple of months trying to get everything in place, but we have been able to finish races and stay at or near the top ten in points, so I am very optimistic about the rest of the season," Hedlesky stated.
Together, Hedlesky and Hardcore Motorsports are excited about the next several events coming up. "We have several tracks that have been really good to me coming up on the schedule, including Pocono and my home track Michigan, so if we can keep building and getting stronger as a team we should be in good shape half way through the schedule," says Hedlesky.
Growing up in the shadows of Michigan International Speedway, just the thought of racing at MIS puts a smile on his face. "I get really pumped up about Michigan; it is my favorite race track and being able to stay at home and race at Toledo this week gets me even more fired up," says Hedlesky.
Hardcore Motorsports is a full-service, aftermarket, high-performance speed shop based in Brighton, MI, co-owned by Nevie Richardson and Bill Wells.
The Hantz Group 200 will be aired on SPEED this Sunday, May 21 at 4:30 PM EST.
