TOWNLEY FIGHTS THROUGH A RAINY WEEKEND -TAKES HOME 12TH
CONCORD, NC (4/21/08) Having to endure a rainy weekend that canceled Friday's practice and Saturday's qualifying, the sanctioning body was forced to line the field up by 2007 owner's point standings for the Prairie Meadow 250 at Iowa Speedway. John Wes Townley, driver of the No.09 Zaxby's- SPS Ford Fusion, took the green in the fifth starting spot.
Many teams, along with RAB Racing, struggled due to the lack of practice, and by lap 30 only ten cars remained on the lead lap. But after a few stops on pit road to make the needed adjustments, Townley stayed focused and took home a hard fought 12th place finish.
"The rain played a large role in how things played out this weekend," John Wes Townley stated. "With such a limited practice, I tried to take it a bit easy in the beginning and see what kind of car we had. We were tight early on and lost some laps, but the pit stops were great and we made adjustments that helped all day. I got more and more comfortable, and by the end of the race we were turning solid lap times and were able to salvage a solid top- 15 finish.
Along with finishing in the top-15, Townley maintained his fourth place position in the ARCA RE/MAX Series Championship Points standings.
Next up for Townley is the Kansas Lottery $150 Grand at Kansas Speedway. The Kansas event is the fourth race on the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule and is set for Saturday, April 26th, 2008 and will air tape delayed on SPEED beginning at 8:30 pm ET time.
"Kansas is one of my favorite tracks that I have tested on thus far." Townley continued. "This team qualified and raced well there last year and our test session at the beginning of April was solid, so I am looking forward to going back to race. I am really proud of the efforts of this team so far this year and with the positive momentum we are bringing to Kansas, I believe we will run well."
RAB Racing has had success at Kansas Speedway as they currently hold the track record with former driver Justin Marks.
