Allgaier Runs Second, First and Second in 2008 ARCA Re/MAX Series Races

Newton, Iowa (April 19, 2008)-Justin Allgaier posted a second place finish today in the Prairie Meadows 250 ARCA RE/MAX Series race at the Iowa Speedway lengthening his 2008 Championship points lead.

Allgaier just 21, dominated the race taking the lead before lap one was posted in the books after starting in the fourth position on the grid. Allgaier led three-times during the 250-lap race for a total of 83 laps on the .875 mile paved oval track.

From the time the No. 16 AG Tech-Hoosier Midwest-Simpson Safety Chevrolet team took to the track for an abbreviated practice this morning after Sim Factory Pole qualifying was cancelled by rain, they knew the car was fast. This speed continued to show throughout the race while Allgaier began to lap the field and run the fastest laps on the track consistently.

Allgaier had superb handling in the car and was able to drive down deep into the corners, rolling through the center of the corner making passing an ease. Although Allgaier was keeping out front, his water temperature began to spike. The gauge in the car was not functioning and the car was running hot. In clean air Allgaier could keep the car cool but around other cars Allgaier had steam coming out of the overflow under the hood. When crew chief, Larry Moore called Allgaier down pit road on lap 74, he opted to take tape off the car to open up the air flow.

The adjustment improved the overheating conditions allowing Allgaier to run the entire event in the top-10 of the field spending the majority of the 250 lap race in the top-three. With sights of victory closing in, the team had to make one more pit stop for tires and fuel. This stop was slow sending Allgaier back on the track in the ninth position losing eight spots.

Overcoming all the obstacles, Allgaier continued to have the car to beat today at the Iowa Speedway but the laps ticked off before he could regain the lead. Allgaier picked up his third top-two finish of the 2008 season with a second place finish in Daytona, a victory last week at the Salem Speedway and with a second place spot today in Iowa.

"We're happy with second but we are a little disappointed because we feel we had the best car out there" Allgaier said. "I let the team down when I got racing with some guys there at the end and could have gotten the win. In the middle (of the race), I was racing on the rail and could do no wrong. I want to keep up these good finishes and haven't been out of the top two in the last three races. I have to thank my crew chief, Larry Moore and all the guys on this team for the great car and a great day today."

Allgaier leads the 2008 Series Championship by 45 points as the ARCA drivers head to the Kansas Speedway for the running of the Kansas Lottery $150 Grand Friday, April 25, 2008.
