Long Pond, PA (July 7, 2009): Following a strong showing in his Nationwide Series debut at New Hampshire Motorspeedway, Chase Mattioli is feeling confident about returning to the ARCA RE/MAX circuit, in Saturday's ARCA RE/MAX Prairie Meadows 200, at Iowa Speedway. Although this is Chase's first ARCA RE/MAX race at Iowa Speedway, Mattioli is no stranger to the track, having spent last weekend gaining about 100 laps of seat time.
Chase's last event was at Loudon, making his NASCAR Nationwide debut. Due to inclement weather and problems with his seat, Chase was only able to get eight laps of practice under his belt, prior to the Nationwide Series event at Loudon. However, even with these limitations, Chase was still able to drive the NO. 7 Qik Joe/JoinAPS.Com Chevrolet to an admirable 32nd place finish, after starting in the 42nd position. More importantly, Chase avoided trouble while gaining all important experience. En route to an overall successful debut, he earned the respect of veteran drivers, displayed when Sprint Cup driver, and eventual winner of Saturday's race, Kyle Busch, gave him a thumb's up as he passed him.
"Loudon was great for me because it allowed me to watch drivers like Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards remain patient throughout the race and adjust their lines as the track conditions change," Mattioli said. "This week at Iowa, I plan to be patient, drive a safe and smart race early on, and then start picking off the other car's one by one while making my push for the win," Mattioli concluded.
Action at Iowa gets underway on Friday, July 10th with practice at 4:30pm. Following practice, Chase will participate in an autograph session at the Prairie Meadows Casino from 7pm -- 8pm. On Saturday, July 11th, Menards Pole Qualifying Presented by Ansell will get underway at 4pm, with the start of the Prairie Meadows 200 set for 8pm.
Following this week's ARCA RE/MAX Prairie Meadows 200, Chase will be go co-driving his Pocono Raceway Mustang in the July 18th, KONI Grand Am Series race at Alabama's Barber Motorsports Park, before returning to Long Pond, to compete in the Pennsylvania ARCA RE/MAX 200, at Pocono Raceway.
