A Look Back at Nashville: John Wes Townley, driver of the No. 09 Zaxby's/SPS/BB&T/Saxon Group Ford, finished a disappointing 33rd in his first attempt on the 1.33-mile track in Music City. The eighteen-year-old rookie posted the fourth fastest lap in the closing laps of practice on Friday and the ninth fastest time in the SIM Factory Pole Qualifying on Saturday. Townley started the 113-lap event in the ninth position and was having a solid run until he radioed into the team that he was having trouble with his brakes. By lap 46 he was down to his lowest position of the day, 13th, and on lap 52 a right-front tire blew coming out of turn four sending the No. 09 machine into the wall.
