Dirt-Track Disaster for Bean and Team GLOCK
Mooresville, NC (8.18.08) Dexter and Team GLOCK had another disappointing weekend at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield at the Allen Crowe Memorial 100 in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. He finished the race in the 32nd position.
Dexter practiced in the seventh position on the one mile clay track with a lap of 34.058 and completed SIM Factory Pole Qualifying with the fourth fastest time of 33.220.
#37 was consistently running up front between the first and sixth position and was the lap leader during lap 13-15 after executing a three wide pass to take the lead from Frank Kimmel. While running in the fifth position, Dexter radioed to the team that something was wrong with the motor. After making his way to the pit stall, the team determined that there was a problem with the camshaft in the engine and the #37 car was out of the race by lap 39. "We had a problem with the engine when we were running so well luck just doesn't seem to be on our side lately. It was pretty hard watching the rest of the race from the infield. All we can do is get prepared for DuQuoin and do our best to make sure that we bring home a top finish for Team GLOCK," said Dexter.
Team GLOCK Racing owner Jeff Spraker states, "This was certainly a heartbreaking day for the team. We had a car capable of winning and Dexter proved that from the drop of the green when he made that three-wide pass to take the lead. This was our first engine failure this year, but that doesn't make this any easier to accept. However, now we have to focus our efforts on the next race which will be the dirt track in DuQuoin. We know we have a great car and a great driver. All we need now is a little luck!"
Next on the schedule for Dexter will be an appearance in his home state. This week, he will be visiting the La Crosse Police Department and the Vernon County Sheriff's Department with GLOCK, Inc. Marketing and Sales personnel. On August 22 24, Bean will be in Oshkosh, WI at the Great Outdoors Festival and will accompany GLOCK Spokesperson, R. Lee Ermey, star of the hit series MAIL CALL. The duo will meet and greet fans, sign autographs and take advantage of the fair like activities as Hunters and Fisherman from all around the country come together to learn about the latest and greatest in the world of everything outdoors.
