Momentum Fueling Pork Racing Toward Kentucky: Frank Kimmel and the Pork Racing team are still excited following their win last weekend at the Kansas Speedway, but the team worked through the fourth of July holiday this week to get that same winning race car prepared for Friday night's WLWT Channel-5 150 at the Kentucky Speedway. Kimmel will be looking to earn his third win of the 2006 ARCA RE/MAX Series and fifth career ARCA RE/MAX Series win at the Kentucky Speedway.
"Our whole team is still really pumped up from the win last weekend because we felt like we were in such a streak of bad luck heading into that race," said Kimmel. "Our intermediate program has really been getting stronger this season, but we had some problems with blowing tires and then at this track earlier this season I just got racing too hard too early in the race. But we are bringing the same race car back to Kentucky that we ran at Kansas last weekend so I am hoping to have the same outcome. The team definitely has the momentum after the win and I would like to see our Pork Racing team get back on a solid streak."
Kimmel has an impressive track record at the 1.5-mile Kentucky Speedway earning five pole positions, four wins and eight top-five finishes in his ten starts at the speedway Kimmel considers one of his home tracks. The Pork Ford Fusion was definitely one of the cars to beat during the spring event at the speedway earning the outside pole position and battling eventual race winner Steven Wallace for the lead. But when Kimmel and Wallace made contact, Kimmel's chances of another race win were extinguished. Kimmel is looking for redemption as the ARCA RE/MAX Series returns to Kentucky Speedway for the second time in 2006.
"We all look forward to racing at Kentucky Speedway," said Kimmel. "This is definitely our home speedway and we have always run really well here. We have spent some time testing with both cars recently so we feel like we are more than ready to get another win this weekend."
Following his win at Kansas Speedway, Kimmel remains second in ARCA RE/MAX Series points and is now 90 points behind point leader, Gerhart. The WLWT Channel-5 150 is scheduled to take the green flag at 9:00pm ET on Friday, July 7 and will be televised live on SPEED.
