Having more than 130 years experience between the two, it seems only fitting that ARCA would one day find its way to Flemington Speedway. That day is finally here as the two well-known motorsports entities have announced jointly that the ARCA Bondo/Mar-Hyde Series will stage an event at the famed 5/8ths mile speedplant in 1999, the first appearance for ARCA in the state of New Jersey making it the 26th different state to appear on ARCA’s schedule since its inception in 1953. The inaugural Flemington ARCA 150 will roll off Saturday, August 14th. "We couldn’t be more excited about the addition of ARCA to our program," said Flemington Speedway Promoter Paul Kuhl. "With the absence of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series on our schedule, we decided that the ARCA Series was our next best option. ARCA will definitely be our star attraction in ’99, and we hope to make it a tradition here at Flemington." Flemington Speedway, a fixture in auto racing since 1915, was clay up through 1990 before Kuhl paved the facility in time for the 1991 season. Through the years, Flemington has attracted some top touring series including, from the NASCAR world, the Craftsman Truck Series, the Busch North Series, the Featherlite Modified Series and the Big Block Modifieds as well as the International Super Modified Association, the USAC Coors Light Silver Bullet Series and the ARDC and NEMA Midgets, a co-sanction for the yearly Mini-Indy show. "When you talk about the top short track operations in the country, Flemington is part of the conversation," said ARCA President Ron Drager. "The tentative date at the Savannah roadcourse dropped off our ’99 schedule and Paul Kuhl was interested in our series, so we want to make it work for both of us. From a marketing standpoint, Flemington is pretty strategic being within an hour of both New York City and Philadelphia. Our race teams are as good as anybody at adapting to different types of tracks, so we plan to bring a strong show to Flemington." The addition of Flemington solidifies ARCA’s schedule at 21 events for 1999.
