Eddie Sharp Racing Signs Justin Lofton for a Full Season in 2008
Denver, NC. (April 1, 2008) -- Originally slated to run a ten-race selection, California-native Justin Lofton has signed to drive the entire 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series season for Eddie Sharp Racing.
"We are extremely excited to have Justin on board with us for the rest of the year," stated team owner Eddie Sharp. "Justin is a very talented driver. I've been impressed to see the quick progress made by that team at recent tests. They will certainly be tough competitors in this series."
Lofton began his career at the age of 11 racing downhill mountain bikes. In 2001 Lofton claimed the series championship. Lofton moved to racing on four-wheels in 2003 and has not slowed down since. After collecting numerous accolades in the Colorado Hill Climb Association, off-road desert racing and Late Models, Lofton competed in the Camping World Series West (formerly called the Grand National or Busch West Series) in 2006 and 2007 prior to joining teammates Scott Speed and Ken Butler, III at Eddie Sharp Racing.
"I'm really looking forward to this season at ESR," said Lofton. "The team has been working really hard building cars and preparing for our tests over the last month. We've had two great test sessions so far and I think Iowa and Kansas will be even better. We have a great team here on this Lofton Cattle Dodge. We're geared up for a successful year and I think we're going to find our way to victory lane a few times."
The Lofton Cattle team has been diligently preparing for its entry into the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX season, testing in recent weeks at Salem, Rockingham, Iowa, and Kansas speedways. Lofton makes his ARCA RE/MAX Series debut in the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200 at Salem Speedway on Sunday, April 13, 2008 behind the wheel of the No. 93 Lofton Cattle entry. Due to ARCA RE/MAX Series rules, an owner cannot purchase a car number and immediately transfer points to a previously owned car number. As a result, Lofton will wheel the No. 93 at Salem, Iowa, and Kansas speedways. Following the first four races, the points from the No. 93 will transfer to the No. 20 entry. The No. 20 Lofton Cattle Dodge will take to the track for the Carolina 500k at Rockingham Speedway. Lofton will complete the season in the No. 20.
Lofton and his team have high hopes and expectations of success for the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series season.
