For ARCA ReMax Series driver Todd Bowsher of Springfield, Ohio , the desire to perform well at Daytona finally became reality. Bowsher at the wheel of the Gordon Food Service, GFS Marketplace #21 Ford Taurus, drove to a strong 12th place finish, Saturday afternoon in the Advance Discount Auto Parts 200 at Daytona International Speedway, Rebounding from a provisional starting position of 41st. Todd and the Jack Bowsher & Associates Motorsports team worked diligently all week trying to find the right combination for the race and it paid off, once the green flag waved for the start at 4:00 pm on Saturday, Bowsher took no prisoners and headed to the lead pack, passing several cars on the first lap. The crew got the Gordon Food Service, GFS Marketplace Ford. on and off pit road quickly and without any problems, and were set to go to the checkered flag on fuel. Once the pit stops were done, back under green there were three seperate incidents that occurred right around Bowsher, but he managed to really get up on the wheel and wasn't caught up in any of them, not a small task when racing at 190 mph at Daytona.
Following the checkered flag, an elated Bowsher said, " This is the first time I've actually had fun at a restricor plate race, the car and driver really worked well in the draft with the leaders. I can't say enough about my guys on pit road, they really stepped up and gave me a quick stop, which allowed me to stay with the leaders. I'm just really happy for all of us, we needed this good run at Daytona, because we've really struggled here in the past. We all worked really hard and put in a lot of long hours and this makes it all worth it. Bring on Nashville, I can't wait to get there." Todd added, " I just want to thank all of our sponsors, GFS, United Trailers , and all of our associate sponsors, for helping to make it all work."
Todd and the Jack Bowsher & Associates Motorsports crew, along with seven other ARCA ReMax Series regular teams were invited to stay after the final practice session on Wednesday to film a reference piece on track, for NBC Sports, along with NBC Sports NASCAR commentator Wally Dallenbach, to be aired during the Budweiser Shootout and the Daytona 500.
The Jack Bowsher & Associates Motorsports Team will have a few weeks to prepare the Gordon Food Service, GFS Marketplace Ford for the upcoming ARCA ReMax Series event at Nashville Superspeedway on Friday April 9, live on SPEED at 9:00pm.
