Sunny Hobbs will attempt to qualify for the ARCA RE/MAX Daytona 39th Annual Discount Auto Parts 200, Feb 10th, 2002 event. SHE Racing with driver, Sunny Hobbs, has partnered with Andy Belmont Motorsports for this event. Sunny, driving the #91 Ford Taurus, and Andy driving the #1 American Online-sponsored Ford Taurus will be teammates. In addition to having an experienced teammate, Sunny will benefit from the fact that Andy has recently added former ARCA crew chief of the year Jeff Lemons to his staff as crew chief. Lemons, who served as crew chief for Frank Kimmel during his RE/MAX Series championship run in 1998, most recently worked as crew chief for the LJ Racing Busch Grand National team and Sabco Racing.
Tri-Star Motorsports will provide engines for both of the Belmont teams.
"Andy has given us a great opportunity to run in the ARCA series, and we're very pleased to start with his team."
SHE Racing also announced sponsorship for the Daytona race by Classic & Muscle Car Super Stores, Harbor Federal, Greg Construction, Law Offices of Arthur W. Niergrath and Con's Cycle Center.
Andy Belmont Motorsports and SHE Racing are engaged in putting together the sponsor package for the entire season, and according to Sunny Hobbs, "We're working on one-race deals, but would certainly prefer it if a major sponsor stepped up to help out." As for the plans for the race, Hobbs said "We tested very well during the December test session at Daytona, and now we have essentially a new car for the race. Hopefully, it will be fast out of the trailer. Our plan is to get into the field, and try to be there at the end. We know how important practice will be because of qualifying with a large number of cars. Hobbs went on to say, "I'm really pumped about racing at Daytona."
