Rain washes out Hideo Fukuyama's ARCA chances.

HAMPTON, GA. (March 7, 2003) -- A two-day rain delay washed out Hideo Fukuyama's chance to qualify for Saturday's ARCA 400 race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

The No. 9 Kikkoman Ford Taurus was warmed up and ready to go when series officials made the decision to cancel today's practice and qualifying sessions. As a result, Saturday's field will take the green flag based on car owner's points. Neither Fukuyama nor car owner Travis Carter had run an ARCA race in 2002, which left them no room for entry in Saturday's 400-mile race.

"It's really too bad, but I guess nothing can be done about it," said Fukuyama. "Even if I was able to run at the top speed of 200 miles per hour, the weather wasn't cooperating today."

Keeping an optimistic view, Fukuyama continued, "Anytime you can come and visit a track, though, it is a positive thing, even if you don't get to race on it."

Travis Carter Enterprises will field Fords for Fukuyama in an effort to compete in select NASCAR Winston Cup Series, Busch Series, Grand National Division and ARCA races throughout the 2003 season.
