GOOD CAR, BAD LUCK, FOR LUSK
MOORESVILLE, NC (7-3-06) - Damon Lusk, driver of the #65 Construct Corps Dodge, was on his way to this season's second top five in Saturday's Kansas Lottery 200 at Kansas Speedway when his day was cut short. An a-frame bolt broke on the right front suspension causing Lusk to go 14 laps down in the pits, settling with a 24th place finish.
"We had a great car, Lusk said. "I would say the best all year. It is frustrating when you know the car you are in could possibly win, and then something breaks that is out of your control. But, it is much easier to swallow when you finish 24th with a solid car, than to finish 24th with problems all day."
"This team has nothing to hold their heads down about. I am really proud of these guys. We have done a 180 with these cars and I feel we are really headed in the right direction."
Despite the 24th place finish, Lusk continues to hold on to third place in the ARCA RE/MAX Series point standings. This young BMR team, consisting of only seven full time employees, is continually improving and showing they are a rising threat against veteran drivers and teams like Kimmel, Gerhart, Venturini, and Weaver each week.
"It's a real heartbreaker for the whole team when we run up front all day and fall 14 laps down in the end," Crew Chief Robby Benton said. "But, this team has really matured and they are showcasing their growth as a team, week in and week out."
With the exception of Lusk, the BMR crew had never been to Kansas. So Bob Schact, owner of Bob Schact Motorsports, was able to lend some technical advice to the team, which was instrumental in this weekend's performance.
"I would really like to thank Bob (Schact). It is really nice to know that in this series, if you have questions, people like Bob, will offer a hand."
"We are taking this same car to Kentucky with only minor adjustments to be made, so I am confident that we will have the opportunity to redeem ourselves."
The is WLWT Channel 5-150 at Kentucky Speedway is scheduled to begin Friday, July 7th at 9:00 PM, airing LIVE on SPEED at 9:00 PM.
