Passmore Appreciative of The Outpouring of Well-Wishes Following Talladega
Pryor, Oklahoma (October 12, 2004) -- Christi Passmore wasted no time getting back to her race shop in Pryor, Oklahoma following a serious accident on lap 14 of the Food World 300 at the Talladega Superspeedway a week ago. While Passmore was kept overnight at the University of Alabama Medical Center for x-rays and observation, she was released with no major injuries the following afternoon. Passmore has received a tremendous outpouring from fellow competitors and race fans following the accident and acknowledges the emotional lift that those emails, phone calls and gifts can have when you are bruised and sore.
"The emails and phone calls since the wreck have been pretty amazing," said Passmore. "We have received emails from around the country and throughout the racing community, all just wanting to send words of encouragement and 'can't wait to see you out on the track next season' comments. I really don't remember the accident at all, but I know I took a couple hard hits into the wall and looking at what's left of my race car shows that. But I was very fortunate to get away with only bruises and that is a credit to my race team for putting safety as the top priority when they build our race cars."
"I really want to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and well wishes following the accident," said Passmore. "Everyone here at the race shop has been focused on 2005 since we returned from Talladega and that is certainly where my focus is at right now. We are getting cars ready and laying out our plans and schedule for next season. Daytona is right around the corner and I will be ready."
Passmore finished out the 2004 ARCA RE/MAX Series season at the Talladega Superspeedway earning the eighth position in championship points for the second straight season. In 2004, Passmore earned five top five finishes and ten top ten finishes. Passmore's career-best ARCA RE/MAX Series finish came this season at the Chicagoland Speedway where she finished in the third position.
