Joliet, IL 9/6/03 - Jason Jarrett and the ML Motorsports #67 Chevrolet Monte Carlo motored home to an eleventh place finish in the ARCA RE/MAX Series 200 held at Chicagoland Speedway this past Saturday.

An engine change forced this team to start the race from the rear of the field, but during the first 50-60 stretch, Jarrett had worked his way to the front.

"Before the first pit stop, we ran like 50 laps," said Jarrett. There was a caution somewhere in the first 10 laps, and then we ran 40-50 green flag laps before we had another caution. I think I made it to like ninth or tenth, and with the pit, the guys got me out in second place. We ran second for a few laps, but then hung around in like fourth or fifth until the end."

"We had a problem with the car being loose; we tried to tighten the car up a bit with an air pressure adjustment on the first stop," added Jarrett. "The car got better the longer we would run it, but, unfortunately, we didn't get any long runs at the end of the race."

A late race spinout while trying to make a pass, caused Jarrett to lose position and the end result was an eleventh place finish.

"I had been trying to make the pass on Darryl Sage for a couple of laps, got underneath him going into the corner. Wayne, I guess he thought I was going to drive into the corner harder. I really couldn't because I was still loose, and then on top of that being the inside car where you get loose anyway; it was just one of those things where he probably drove in there harder than I could. He barely tapped me," said Jarrett.

The ARCA Series point race continues to get tighter and although Jason lost some ground over the weekend, is still holding firmly on to second place in the standings. Jarrett looks forward to returning to Salem and regaining momentum in the remaining races during the 2003 season.

"We definitely need to have a race where we're at the front to win; where we are in position to win, not just somewhere at the front," said Jarrett.

The ARCA RE/MAX Series heads back to Salem, Indiana for the Eddie Gilstrap Motors Fall Classic by Advance Auto Parts on Saturday, September 13th beginning at 7:15 p.m. The race can be seen live on Speed Channel beginning at 8:00 p.m. Eastern.
