Alli Owens Comments on Chicagoland Speedway:
"I was raised in Daytona Beach, but I was born in Centralia, Ill. I still have a lot of family who live in the area, so I consider Chicago one of my home tracks. It's a great feeling to look into the grandstands and see so many friends and family cheering you on. I definitely want to make them proud this weekend, and I'll do everything I can to get the ElectrifyingCareers.com car up front.
"My Aunt Penny will be at the track this weekend. She's the reason I wear pink streaks in my hair. She was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year and I added the streaks in support of her. This will be the first race she's been to since her diagnosis. I'm so excited to have her join us for the race.
"Chicagoland is all about momentum. Compared to other mile-and-a-half tracks, its turns are much wider and more gradual. Even the backstretch has a bend in it, so you're on the gas longer. The sweeping corners really generate some speed. Of course that means if you make a mistake or have to get off the throttle, your lap times pay a huge price.
"Last season (at Chicago) I started just outside the top-10 and finished inside the top-15. I'm looking to improve on that this weekend and qualify inside the top-10 and finish in the top-five.
"Our season started out great, but we've run into some bad luck the last few races. We've been running in the top-10 nearly every event. Blown tires and motors have taken away a few good finishes from us, but I know we can rebound this weekend."
